Jerome Jang

Jerome Jang is a fully accredited Level 3 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) of Canada Cross country ski coach with extensive club, provincial, national and international experience. He has completed a number of the level 4 tasks and will be availing himself to more of as they become available. He has coached or been involved with cross country skiing for at least 30 years at the club, provincial and national level. He is a NCCP facilitator who conducts Introduction to Community Coaching; Community Coaching; Competition Coaching Learning to Train dryland and on snow workshops for Cross Country Canada. In that capacity, which he has filled for the past 20 years, he has mentored, interacted and observed many ski coaches throughout B.C.

He has skied, worked with and apprenticed with both the present head of coaching of the Canadian National Ski Team, Dave Wood as well as the former head of the Canadian National Ski Team and past Norwegian Ski Team head coach, Steiner Mondel. He has worked with, coached or taught coaching courses to a number of other National Ski Team staff including Eric DeNys, coach of the 2010 team; Yves Bilodeau and Graham MacLean, Team wax technicians; Jeff Whiting and Robin McKeever, para olympic coaches; Dave Dyer and Stephanie Barrette, marketing and high performance directors.

He has worked with the following current high performance athletes: National Senior Team - Sara Renner, David Kershaw and George Grey; National Development Team - Sean Crooks and Mathew Wylie; Paranordic Team - Collette Bourgouje, Mary Benson and Lou Gibson. He has worked and apprenticed with former BC Head Coaches Pete Saar and Neil Manhard and has coached most of the past and present BC Ski Team and Development Team members.

On the way there, he has started, helped developed and or have been on the executive of several ski clubs: Prince George, McKenzie, Osoyoos and Nickel Plate. He was a founding and executive member of the Nickel Plate Ski Club, designing and locating a number of the original ski trails and starting the ski program. He was the past head coach for both Nickel Plate and Telemark Ski Club. In addition, he was a past Level 3 Canadian Nordic Ski and Telemark Instructor and is presently an accredited Level 2 NCCP official.
